Children’s activities
Our Children’s Work at CBC is called ‘Footprints’. We have many different age appropriate groups and activities for children of all ages.
These groups are open to all, we welcome visitors. No pre-booking required. The children come into the main worship area for the first 20 minutes of the service; they are then told when to go out into their Footprints groups. Parents may accompany their children to their rooms then go back into the service when the children are settled. Older children who know where they are going, often make their own way out of the service. Parents collect their children from these groups immediately after the service.
Sunday Mornings
Our Sunday morning ‘Footprints’ groups are broken down into the various age appropriate classes:

Wrigglers & Crawlers: Pre-school babies and Toddlers (Birth to about 4 yrs) in Hall on groundfloor

Walkers: Reception to Year 2 (about 4 to 6 yrs) in Room 1 (ground floor off the foyer area)

Runners: School Years 3 and 4 (about 7 to 9 yrs) in Room 4/5 (first floor, at end of corridor)

Sprinters: School Years 5 & 6 (about 9-11 yrs) in Room 3 (first floor, halfway along)
Family Area
There is a dedicated family area at the front of the auditorium during the morning services, with big floor cushions for the children to sit on. Parents are also encouraged to sit with or near their children on this side of the church.
The first part of the service is more family focused with a children’s talk most weeks and family friendly songs etc.
By the way, we don’t mind when your children make a noise or wriggle in the service. They are part of our church family and we welcome them.
During special family services (held throughout August and during special occasions such as Harvest, Easter and Christmas, this area will extend into the prayer area and there will be colouring tables and worksheets for those children who find it difficult to sit still.
During the week….
Noah’s Ark Mothers and Toddlers Group

Noah's Ark Toddlers group
For babies/toddlers and their parent/grandparent/carers. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and relax whilst your children have fun playing with toys and socializing with other children. It runs twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. To be put on the waiting list please contact Becky Bessant on 876878.
Dads & Kidz
An occasional morning session giving space for Dads minding their kids, with coffee, newspapers & chance for a chat, plus things to do by and with the kids.
Kids Club
After school on Friday evenings, we have a fun kids club for Key Stage 2 children called RELAY. We are aiming for this to be predominantly for church kids and their friends, to build relationships and as an easy step into church. However, if you think your child would enjoy coming along to this, please contact Becky Bessant.
Doors open at 3.30pm onwards, so you can drop them straight off from school if you want to. The first half hour will be refreshments and free time with table football, table ice-hockey, crafts, wii, etc. If you prefer to let your child go home first to change, that’s fine too.
We also have optional games and challenges in the hall with prizes for winners, and there will be a 10 minute weekly teaching slot, a memory verse challenge (that will include a fun activity). There will be a free tuck-shop, but this will be for a few penny sweets of their choice not loads of junk!
We are hoping to encourage many Runners and Sprinters children to attend in September, so they know lots of other children that go, and feel at home straight away!
Other Fun Activity Events
We also arrange regular ‘Fun activity events’ for children and families. All welcome, but booking essential. See window displays for information. However, generally these are held at:
- Easter (Family Easter Egg Hunt)
- Christmas (Christmas Crafts)
- Halloween (Alternative Halloween party such as Super-Heroes Party, Detective Day, Ugly Bug Ball, Taming Your Dragon etc)
- February (Footprints groups annual party)
If you would like to be on our mailing list for these events, please contact Becky on 876878 or becky.bessant@clevedonbaptistchurch.org
Holiday Bible Club
Additionally, there is an annual Holiday Bible Club one week during the school summer holidays. At the last one over 100 children took part and became ‘secret agents’ as part of ‘Mission Rescue’, whilst learning about Moses and the Exodus from Egypt.
Craft Saturdays
Also look out for our free monthly ‘Craft Saturday’ mornings for children of all ages and their parents (free tea/coffee and cakes too!). Generally on the first Saturday of each month, in the hall, 10 -12 midday! No booking required – just turn up!
Rock Solid
Plus for children who attend our Runners or Sprinters groups on a Sunday Morning, or Friday Relay, there is a new once a month ‘Churches Together in Clevedon’ group for Key stage 2 children called ‘Rock Solid’. It is held on the second Sunday of each month at the YMCA from 4.30pm till 6.00pm. The aim of ’Rock Solid’ is to help church children feel ‘part of something bigger’ and to enable them to make friends with children from other churches before they get to secondary school. It will be a happy time which will also involve fun bible teaching.
Please contact Becky Bessant our Children’s and Families Worker on 876878 or becky.bessant@clevedonbaptistchurch.org for more details.
