Who we support
Mission Support
We actively support the work of BMS World Mission, as well as the Baptist colleges and other organizations. In addition we give to some specialist societies and organizations. We do this by displays with information, visiting representatives, financial gifts and sometimes supporting church members who feel a God-given desire to spend a few days or weeks working in their projects. We also have a special link with the Baptist Church in Lom, Bulgaria.
Mission Committee
Several people meet regularly and plan Mission Sundays, book speakers, arrange publicity and events, liaise with and support church members who want to do short-term voluntary work, approve grants and gifts, and raise the profile of Mission in the church.
Giving
Our church has an annual budget which includes a total to give for Mission. This means we do not have appeals for particular projects, although sometimes when there is a disaster there is an opportunity to give extra. We regularly give to:

and have a special partnership with Lom Baptist Church in Bulgaria.

Lom Baptist Church
CBC also gives occasional gifts to:

Some of our members who have been mission volunteers:
Sarah Luckwell has used her musical and other gifts in South Africa and with one of our church teams visiting Lom, Bulgaria. She has just completed a year's internship with St Paul's, Hammersmith.
Hannah Tomlinson (right) worked hard but also had fun in the children’s home where our BMS missionary Judy Cook works in Thailand.
Joy Stanford still enjoys teaching children in her school holidays as part of a Beach Mission team. Often seen with an accordian, she is a gifted musician and storyteller
Graham Sparkes made a 24hr air / train journey to reach Chisineu, Moldova to help the resident OM team with their computer equipment. He slipped on the ice within 48hrs sustaining serious enough injury to return home immediately for treatment.
Judi Spencer went to Chile to teach on an intensive English as a Second Language course with an international OM team in Santiago for a month. Her student was a bright, winsome 21yr old Chilean dental student who intended to do mission work. It was a shock to hear that he died a year later from pneumonia.
Val Bryant joined a team of 21 mainly young people who took 60 excited children from around the rural area of Oradea, Romania to a Christian camp in the beautiful mountains 4hrs drive away. These childen, from very poor families, were very enthusiastic about the regular food, games, a massive water fight, and bible stories with drama, songs, puppets and memory verses. Many invited Jesus to be their friend. "A fun, tiring and very satisfying experience," says Val.
Bex Wheeler spent 3 months in Romania, mainly helping teach English to children. The action song 'head, shoulders, knees and toes' was good for teaching them words for parts of the body. She was also a leader at two summer camps there.
