Agencies we support

Mission Support

We actively support the work of the Baptist Missionary Society (BMS World Mission), and the West of England Baptist Association (WEBA Home Mission) as well as Baptist colleges and other organisations.

Home Mission is the Baptist Movement’s shared purse used to support churches who can’t afford to employ a minister themselves, and also to facilitate new initiatives and church plants.

In WEBA, Home Mission helps with funding in more than 20 situations where Christ’s missionary disciples are creatively sharing his gospel with their local community.

In addition we give to some specialist societies and organisations. We do this by displays with information, visiting representatives, financial gifts and sometimes supporting church members who feel a God-given desire to spend a few days or weeks working in their projects.

Mission Committee

Several people meet regularly and plan Mission Sundays, book speakers, arrange publicity and events, liaise with and support church members who want to do short-term voluntary work, approve grants and gifts, and raise the profile of Mission in the church.

Giving

A percentage of the church’s general income is given each year to BMS and Home Mission.  A further percentage is allocated to the Mission Team to distribute annually.  This means we do not have appeals for particular projects, although sometimes when there is a disaster there is an opportunity to give extra. We regularly give to:
