400th Anniversary of the Baptist Movement in the UK.

Here’s a website featuring a number of different blogs from other baptist churches across the UK to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the Baptist Movement in the UK.

Wembley, Ashton Gate, and more!

The following is a summary of an email from Tim Simpson, chairman of Churches Together in Clevedon, about exciting prayer initiatives in the area and nationally:

“Nationwide plans are underway for perhaps the largest prayer gathering in this nation for a very long time, Saturday 29th September Wembley Stadium. This will be a real call to God on behalf of our nation.

Why not come and hear the vision behind Wembley and indeed of how we can prepare ourselves before God for it. Bristol EA have invited the organiser of the event Dr.Jonathan Oleyede to speak in Bristol on Wednesday 28th March 7.30 (venue to be confirmed).

Prior to that meeting Jonathan will speak to a smaller group of folk who already have a heart for prayer, at Emmanuel Chapel, Henbury 2pm-4.30pm 28th March. Any prayer leaders please feel free to invite your groups.

There is also a possibility of holding a Bristol Area stadium prayer time at Ashton Gate Stadium and this is currently being looked at for the evening of Pentecost Sunday 27th May. Listen out for further details.

As you can see, much to get excited about but also much to pray for. We must somehow not just get caught up in the euphoria but remember we are praying as an act of repentance in the hope of seeing our nation changed.”

If you are interested in going to Wembley or want further information, in the first instance contact Sarah Sweet or Stephen Brain. A list is being built by Tim Simpson for travel to Wembley and we can pass numbers to him.

Thank-you to volunteers for great Christmas lunch

Nearly 80 people enjoyed a full traditional Christmas lunch thanks to volunteers who prepared, cooked, set tables, decorated the hall, welcomed folk and served lunch, cleared away and washed up. Others gave a 45 minute programme of music, visuals, poetry, and a Christmas message. Everyone enjoyed the proceedings.

2,000 Christmas gift boxes sorted and sent

Shoeboxes packed with gifts

Gift-filled shoeboxes and items to add as fillers have been brought to our church.

Dozens of volunteers checked boxes in our auditorium and added Christian booklets to them before others stacked them in cartons for despatch to Romania. They dealt with around 2,000 beautifully gift-wrapped boxes between them. Thanks to all who contributed in any way.

Full house for Taming Your Dragon event

How To Tame Your Dragon

‘How to Train your Dragon’ children’s alternative Halloween event was fully booked and attended by 48 children, who made dragon themed crafts, played a number of extremley messy ‘gunge’ filled dragon games and listened to a dragon themed christian talk. All the children took home a goody bag. Both the children and helpers alike reported that this was lots of fun!
